Was haben Bertold Brecht, ein Taschenbuch der Chemie und die “schönsten deutschen Volkslieder” gemeinsam?

In der Bona-Peiser-Bibliothek gibt es eine besondere Sammlung; ein Regal mit über 300 Büchern, vor allem Romane, die über Jahre kein einziges Mal ausgeliehen wurden. Nach Auswertung statistischer Daten bietet die Bibliothek jene Titel allen BesucherInnen zum Mitnehmen an. So finden diese Bücher ihren Weg bald an andere, vermutlich weniger zugängliche Orte.

Bevor diese ungelesenen Bücher die Bibliothek verlassen, bringt A Public Library diese kuriose Sammlung wieder mit dem aktuellen Bestand in einer Reihe kollektiver Lesungen und Diskussionen zusammen. „zum Mitnehmen” findet Mittwoch Nachmittags statt, alle sind herzlich eingeladen, gemeinsam zu lesen und zu entdecken!

What do Bertold Brecht, a Chemistry textbook and a collection of Germany’s “most beautiful folk songs” have in common?

In late December 2014, a new collection of books has appeared on the shelves of the Bona-Peiser-Bibliothek; It consists of more than 300 titles, mainly novels, which according to the library records haven’t been checked out during the last years. Based on these statistical data, the library administration has decided to make these books available for visitors to take away.

“zum Mitnehmen” starts off with this odd collection of unread books on their way to other, less accessible spaces, and pairs them with titles from various subjects of the current library holdings. Selected excerpts are then brought together in a series of collective readings taking place at A Public Library on Wednesday afternoons. Please join us during those times, and read along (in German)!
